It's been fun getting back into the swing of school this year, here's homework for you guys to finish before you come to class this next week.
Scroll to the bottom, look under "What to Watch"
I'm excited to welcome everyone back to school this year! We had a weird ending last spring to our school so it's good to start this year off feeling a little more normal. With everything around the world going on with the 'Rona it's nice to be participating in sports and going back to school. Even though there are a few more restrictions while going to school I think it's more than worth the sacrifice to get back to normal.
This year we'll hit the ground running with US History and Conditioning, taking advantage of every moment we get. Make sure to sign up for reminders for your individual class and stay tuned for what's in store!
Well guys, it’s the end if the year. It’s been weird, scary, entertaining, eventful, and fun. I miss seeing everyone everyday, this is definitely not how I imagined things ending this year. Since we’re in the homestretch of the term, here’s a couple of reminders:
• Make sure to turn in your US History book to the library before the 22nd, enter through the doors closest to the library and stay safe (6ft apart) when returning your books.
• Everything has been updated in Skyward from Google Classroom but if there’s a mistake or something missing please let me know.
• Please make sure you’ve filled out the Term 4 Grade Preference form if you haven’t already, it’s found in Google Classroom, top assignment.
• Stay safe and have a great summer! Stop in and say “Hi” next year👍
We're underway this week and the goal is to learn more about the Vietnam War and what the circumstances were surrounding it. You can see what the plan is by clicking on the button below. The goal this week is complete the assigned coursework (reading quizzes + Vietnam War CC assmt) and attend one of the Google Meet video conferences. I'll be adding a recorded lecture on the Vietnam War later on this week to add some flavor to the book and content. Hit me up with any questions!
Well it looks like we're going to be at this for a while (at least until April 30th) so hopefully we're starting to get the hang of this whole online learning thing. I've heard from most of you but if I haven't, reach out and say "Hi" either thru email, Remind, or Google Classroom. I've been updating my website as we go, you can browse the tab labeled US History > Topics.
This week we're ending our Civil Rights Movement Unit and starting a new unit on the Vietnam War. You can find out what's expected this week online below.
Sometimes you take things for granted and like much of you, I really miss seeing y'all at school and being around you. I'm going through teaching withdrawals right now, I miss you guys more than. you know. Hopefully everyone is up and running online but for those of you who are struggling, no worries . . . we'll tackle this thing together. There will never be points taken off for work handed in after the due date, I just want you to show me that you know the content. You can always re-do an assignment or quiz, just give me a heads up when you've done that so I can enter in your best score.
Alright guys, here's the scoop for this week. I've listed what I'd like you to do online and in Google Classroom. Each day I'll be checking the assignments that are turned in and inputing the scores into Skyward so you should be able to see what you've done and what still needs to be done. Each week I'll update my website & Google Classroom with info and instructions that will help you understand what to do. I will also be recording a few lectures on the material that we're covering so it'll somewhat be like class minus me clowning on students.
Hey y’all, these are some crazy times we’re living in, this is the kind of stuff students will be reading about in their textbooks 20 years from now! While we’re all trying to figure this online stuff out know that I’m thinking of y’all and if you need any help at all please let me know. I’ll be using this website and Google Classroom for assignments (like I normally do) so together we’ll all figure this out together. The best way to contact me is via the Remind text. Again, please reach out if you have questions or need help. Much love ❤️, Herrud.
I'm at a conference today again, I'll be back Thursday and Friday . . . please be nice to the sub. Here's the scoop for US History today:
1. Create a WWI Meme (see Google Classroom for instructions)
2. Learn what "A Flawed Peace" means in regard to WWI and why the US didn't join the League of Nations (see button below)
3. Play Imperialism and WWI Kahoot review games (put your real name in . . . I get a report of who actually plays and who doesn't)
Today we will be on the Spirit Assembly schedule as Collin Kartchner will be speaking to us about the affects of social media on mental & emotional health. The assembly will invite all sophomores to attend while seniors and juniors will watch from their 2nd period class. The schedule for the day is below:
Mr. Herrud teaches US History, AP World History, CRAM (credit recovery), and Conditioning. He is in his 14th year of teaching.
